AR-01: /bangs head against desk

It seems Tim Wooldridge isn’t the only candidate in AR-01 to roll out a new commercial; Chad Causey has a new one as well.

Interestingly enough, the ads have some similarities.  Both seem to feature the candidate in a situation with a truck.  Both promise results in Washington D.C.  And both are horrible.

First, the most glaring thing — half the people say “Get it done, Chad!” and the other half say “Get ‘er done!”  (Or “Git-R-Done” for the illiterates in the crowd.)  If you want a slogan to go with your campaign, you should probably have all of the people say it the same way.  To go retro for an example, can you imagine if half of the people in Wendy’s commercial had asked “Where’s the beef?” while the other half said “Where’s the meat?”  Of course not.

Second, what’s up with the “Working With Marion Berry” part?  The voice-over says he’ll work with senior citizens.  Are you going to work with Marion Berry because he’s old?  I don’t get it.  Besides, you might want to convince people that you can actually do this job on your own, considering people only know you as “the guy who used to work for Marion Berry.”

The good news is that the Friday Poorly Done Campaign Commercial trifecta is now in play.  So you’ve got that going for you.  Which is nice.
