The first formal Senate debate held last Friday was a turning point in the race. It was a unique opportunity for Arkansans to watch Congressman Boozman defend his radical ideas that are out of step with the majority of Arkansans. Unlucky for Congressman Boozman, Arkansans are beginning to take notice.
In this week’s Mason-Dixon poll, Blanche Lincoln’s stock is up. While she narrows the gap and her campaign operates at full speed, Congressman Boozman is making a series of mistakes with a campaign on cruise control.

Boozman Update
Congressman Boozman is an extremist with radical ideas that will hurt Arkansas, such as a national sales tax on everything Arkansans buy and plans to privatize Social Security and Medicare. Arkansas voters are beginning to take notice and his negative rating has doubled in the latest Mason-Dixon poll conducted this week. His unfavorable rating has the potential to increase more dramatically as more voters focus on their upcoming decision.
D.C. party leaders are responsible for coaxing Boozman into this race, and now several Arkansas opinion writers have noted that the five-term Congressman isn’t even working for it. If it’s one thing Arkansans hate, it’s someone thinking he can walk into a job he hasn’t earned.
“Nationwide, 2010 is shaping up to be a historic year for the GOP. As such, Boozman has hardly bothered campaigning, save this one attention-getting commercial. He hasn’t even broken a sweat. Instead, he’s content to play his Razorback card and run out the clock. That’ll likely be enough to assure the double-digit victory prognosticators are predicting. Lincoln Update: One Tough Lady
In the last two months, Lincoln has generated her own momentum by delivering inspiring stump speeches around the state, delivering important victories for Arkansas in the Senate and by persuading voters one-by-one. Her energy and professionalism were on full display at last Friday’s debate when she clearly overshadowed the dazed and confused Congressman.
All Boozman has heard for nine months is that he is going to win. His campaign is listless and mechanical. All Lincoln has heard is that she can’t. That may explain why her campaign is aggressive and innovative, with an all 75-county operation that is building excitement.
As Congressman Berry said of Boozman last week, “He ain’t no One Tough Lady and he sure ain’t Senator Blanche Lincoln.” [Truly, truly awful. –Ed.] He hasn’t stood up for Arkansas farmers. He hasn’t stood up for women who have been victims of violence. And he won’t stand before Arkansas voters.
It’s because of Lincoln’s determination that she will win this race as Arkansans realize that no one has or will work harder for them and deliver the results they expect and need to recover from the worst economic crisis our nation has seen since the Great Depression.
Congressman Boozman must be looking in the rear view mirror and wondering why that Lincoln campaign sign with the “One Tough Lady” emblem keeps getting larger and larger.
